Rob alderton - head of musical theatre

Musically Rob is hard to beat. A musician who plays 12 different instruments, he won a County Music Scholarship at 11 years old and went on to train at Middlesex to gain a BA degree in Performing Arts. As a conductor, he began his career with a musical at the age of 14.

Touring extensively throughout the UK and Europe with the pop band "Sailor", Rob's expertise as a pianist has led him to performing to crowds of up to 35,000 and on to working with world-renowned stars such as Sir Cliff Richard and Freddie Starr.

His experience with West End productions Les Miserables, Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, Avenue Q and numerous pantomimes gives Rob an enviable track record and a wealth of knowledge that our students will massively benefit from.

Rob also has his own recording studio, out of which he has created tracks to augment the orchestrations for many top international shows including works from Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.

His work as a composer includes writing and scoring for two Youth Theatre productions, Noah and Robin Hood. Noah went on to be produced and performed throughout the UK , America and Australia, whilst his original full-scale production Fast Food-the musical had it's world premiere at The Wycombe Swan Theatre.

On-going work includes a wide range of composition commissions and arrangements from big band and choir scores to jingles for commercials. His newest venture, a combination production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins, opens March 2016.
